Bristol-born Raleigh Ritchie is back with his new single, ‘I’m Not Okay, But I Know I’m Going To Be’.
Ritchie may be better known to some as actor, Jacob Anderson, featuring on successful TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Broadchurch.
However, since releasing his debut single in 2013, Ritchie has been using the pseudonym to provide him with the confidence to put his personal experiences out into the world, consequently allowing songs such as ‘I’m Not Okay, But I Know I’m Going To Be’ to feel so honest.
Ritchie’s music aims to be relatable to as many people as possible, with important messages that he hopes will make listeners “feel less lonely”. This is particularly true for ‘I’m Not Okay, But I Know I’m Going To Be’, which is all about self-love and the importance of staying positive whilst struggling with mental health. With simple lyrics such as “I know I’ll be alright” and “I’ll get there in the end”, the track incites feelings of optimism and confidence for the future.
The track was co-written by British legend, MNEK, resulting in a combination of sounds from soul, pop and RnB; Ritchie has made it clear in the past that he prefers to stay away from genre boundaries within his music, and instead flicks between aspects from genres and artists that influence him the most, such as Morrissey and The Maccabees.
When releasing such a chilled track, it makes sense that Ritchie would provide us with a similarly therapeutic lyric video. Both the single and video provide a great escape for those listeners having negative thoughts and needing a reminder that they will “make it out the other side”.
‘I’m Not Okay, But I Know I’m Going To Be’ is the perfect comeback single after the release of Ritchie’s second album, ‘Andy’ in 2020. We’re excited to see what more the singer-songwriter has in store for fans over the upcoming months!
