Apart from ‘The Beach Goer’ which was released earlier this year, it has been way too long since Yammerer has delivered us with a post-rock, psychedelic, gem after disappearing for several months in 2020.
However, there is good news. Yammerer has just released ‘Tell Me What The Ancient Astronaut Theorists Believe’ (TMWTAATB) and is the lead single from their upcoming debut album.
If you didn’t know already, Yammerer is a Liverpool-based psychedelic post-rock band and is best known for their enthralling gigs and their high-energy performances on stage. The band consists of Jay Sunsea on Vocals, Gajo Paco and Steve Dee on guitar, Conchur Macshim on Bass, and Perm Doner on drums.
Unsurprisingly, the track most definitely takes us on one hell of a ride. In true Yammerer style, the band dives straight into the madness with energetic vocals and infectious guitar riffs. There is only a short moment before Jay enters with powerful lyrics and punchy drums. However, compared to the band’s other tracks, I would say that TMWTAATB is the most straightforward single that the band has released to date, it shows how the band can jump between the eccentric and the norm.
TMWTAATB is actually written through the protagonist, Jon Vertigo, and we are taken on a journey where Jon is searching for his missing identity. After endlessly scrolling through sacred texts and government officials, Jon is ready to arrive at the final destination and uncover the biggest piece of the puzzle.
The only way to describe this single is irrepressible. It is a counter-hegemonic resistance to whatever state capitalism is in today and the single is written through yet another protagonist, touching on themes discussed on previous records.
Yammerer are very much a mysterious band with very little online presence, so it's hard to pinpoint when exactly the band’s debut album will be released. Make sure you follow their Spotify to keep updated.
