We’re all getting dance fever with new single ‘Heaven Is Here’ by Florence + The Machine

Channeling ‘Drumming Song’ from her 2009 album ‘Lungs’, Florence + The Machine is back with a new single ‘Heaven Is Here’. The uncertainty of lockdown hasn’t slowed Florence down as she grapples with emotions of euphoric joy, grief, and fury in her new single.

Written with contemporary dance in mind, ‘Heaven Is Here’ combines elements of Florence’s expressive style and sparse sounds, whilst being heavy on percussion with an acoustic guitar.

Abandoning the rigid and adopting the unconventional, Florence fills the empty space of her tracks with her infamous mezzo-soprano voice, full of bright and youthful notes. Florence stated on Twitter that she “wanted to make something monstrous. And this was the first thing that came out.” She’s certainly turning heads with this new song, stirring a blend of folk and electronica, her strong yet ethereal vocals haunt the track, complimented by the acapella layering, creating a bewitching listening experience. She touches upon her battle with depression with ‘Heaven Is Here’ and she creates quite a dark image through her lyrics.

Florence also took to Twitter recently to state that two of the dancers she worked with filming her music video in November are currently sheltering from attacks in Kyiv, Ukraine. She left a heartfelt message saying, “I wish I could put my arms around you.”

Heaven Is Here’ is her second new track within the last month, following ‘King’. Her latest release only a few days ago was ‘My Love’. Her new album ‘Dance Fever’ will be, as Florence describes it, a “fairy tale in 14 songs” and is available to pre-order now and will be released 13th May later this year.
