Canadian Pop Rocker Darrian Gerard hits all the right marks with her latest cut ‘Explosion’. A classic pop rock tune that evokes a similar sound to early Avril Lavine, this single features hard hitting drums, heavy electric guitar and an impressive voice to match.
The verses are short and snappy, before transitioning into a memorable chorus with a killer hook that will easily become stuck in a listener's head.
With a run time of just over three minutes, Gerard talks of how she is misunderstood by her friends and society and is the “epitome of a wash out home wrong” and how if she is distracted from her goal she will "start and explosion" . The visuals of the accompanying music video (directed by Gerard herself) show her in a field, playing some of the instruments featured in the song scubas the guitar and bass as well as singing along.
Despite only starting her professional career in 2021, Gerard has racked up over 100,000 streams on Spotify and has been featured on radio shows in Alberta, Canada.
The mixing of the song is crisp and clean, with each instrument easily picked out when listened to and the levels and effects are both tasteful and balanced also. An earworm that will have many people singing along in no time, ‘Explosion’ is a pop rock banger.
