Ingrid Michaelson and A Great Big World Reunite for Magical Festive Single ‘It’s Almost Christmas’

Back in 2014, singer Ingrid Michaelson and dynamic duo A Great Big World collaborated on their song ‘Over You’. Now, eight years later, they have come together again for their new Christmas track, ‘It’s Almost Christmas’. The festive ballad is filled with emotion, “about choosing to find the magic and joy around us despite the darkness. And to tell the ones you love that you love them,” the artists stated on their Instagrams

Michaelson and A Great Big World have both been active in the music industry since the early noughties, and they’ve respectively had their fair share of success. Ingrid Michaelson rose to fame in 2008, with her hit song ‘Be OK’, and co-wrote a Christmas song called ‘Winter Song’ with Sara Bareilles. A Great Big World won a Grammy for their collaboration with Christina Aguilera on ‘Say Something’ which went platinum six times in the US.

‘It’s Almost Christmas’ feels like it could be a new holiday staple with the eloquent melodies and the nostalgic feeling it evokes. It’s a ballad, which isn’t very common with Christmas songs nowadays, starting with a piano as the prime instrument which then transcends into an orchestral masterpiece.

Arguably, both Michaelson and A Great Big World have quite different sounds, but it works perfectly on their new song. Their vocals complement one another, and gives even more magic to what they are advertising, making listeners really want to “open up your arms [and] let it [magic] surround you.”

Michaelson has announced her 'It’s Almost Christmas' Tour, with one show in London and the rest on the East Coast of the U.S, with this new song adding to her annual Christmas shows setlist.
