Psychedelic progressive rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have shared the dizzy video for ‘Astroturf’, one of the bops from their latest album ‘Changes’. The explorative band from Melbourne, Australia are well known for their groundbreakingly unique music and the different genres that influence it, and this video is the perfect example of their talents.
The video starts with the camera spinning around the room, getting a 360-degree angle of the spinning room and all the band members with their many instruments. The warm tones of the room, combined with the vintage setting, make this video feel cosy, almost like you’re in the room with them.
As the song progresses, you can really hear every instrument being played and the power that comes from it. A prime example of this is at the start, when King Gizzard’s drummer is smashing the kit, and the sound that comes from it is spectacular. Another influential part of the video is the flute solo. Seeing this being played in the video so intimately and effortlessly makes you appreciate the masterfulness of this band’s talent for music.
During the instrumental section of the song, the video tour of the recording room cuts to video footage of the band exploring a city together. The blurry, old-fashioned filter on this section of the video makes you feel like you have stepped back in time and makes the song feel the same. This section highlights the jazz elements of the song, as the genre of the song matches beautifully with the video.
Another spectacular work of art made by one of the most influential bands in the music industry.
