After hitting initial success in 2021 with her debut album ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’ featuring singles ‘Eugene’ and 'Black Dog’, Arlo Parks climbed to the top of the UK charts, claiming a Brit Award for Best New Artist within six months of her first album.
‘Blades’ fits in perfectly with the musical aesthetic of Arlo Parks, it’s smooth and upbeat with a distinct elegance to her lyrics, “There was something strangely romantic / In our friendship, We were dramatic / I wept in your arms”.
It’s a song fit to dance to as well as part of a calming bedroom playlist. ‘Blades’ perfectly describes the memories of looking back on a friendship that has possibly failed but looking back, the romance was there all along and hopefully still is. The instruments are simple and electronic, flowing effortlessly along with the words. It’s a tune that whirls around in your head, feeling familiar just after the first listen.
Parks is only getting bigger as an artist, set to perform at Reading and Leeds 2023, fans are eager to see her newest sound come to life in her live shows.
