‘Satellite’, featured on Styles’ chart-topping 2022 album ‘Harry’s House’, is a track that discusses navigating the rocky journey of a relationship. The gravitational pull of the partner leaves him “Spinnin’ out, waitin’ / for ya to pull me in”, using the satellite analogy to illustrate their partner as the centre of their world.
The focal robot in the music video, which some fans are likening to Pixar’s ‘Wall-E’ character, is inspired after mimicking a Mars rover to see their surroundings with a new explorative freedom. Ensues is a video where the robot roams across a variety of backstage dressing rooms, vacated stadium floors and a live performance of Styles himself on stage - accurately paired with the pessimistic landscape of bad weather and littered floors prevalent in concert culture.
Travel is at the centre of both the track’s lyrics and music video, where the vocals of real tour attendees are featured in an ode to live performance and the unlimited excitement of concerts. Ending in a cyclical fashion, the main robot character’s battery life ends as it looks at the stars alongside Styles, where its experience of travelling across the globe comes to a satisfying end outside of a NASA building.
Featuring as one of Styles’ more upbeat and synth-pop tracks, the pinnacle drum solo and space-themed lyrics mark the undeniable effervesce of ‘Satellite’ that has been captured in the music video.
Harry Styles’ ‘Love On Tour’ will return to the UK at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on May 22nd 2023, whilst the European leg of the tour will continue throughout the summer.
