One of the UK’s greatest indie music festivals is back this bank holiday weekend with unreal bands, remarkable comebacks and plenty of northern spirit! This 2-day festival held in Victoria Park, Warrington is the perfect starter for the UK festival season and their 2023 line-up is going to make it even more spectacular.
On Saturday, you should start your festival off by seeing one of the best electro-punk bands around, Courting. A local Liverpool 4 piece bringing jumpy guitar riffs and catchy rhythms to The Big Top stage at 12:55. After this, be sure to catch shoegaze indie band Cassia as they perform their dreamy tunes on the Main Stage at 13:40. Or if you fancy a bit Irish jigging, head over to The Big Top at 13:45 for The Mary Wallopers who will bring some contemporary folk sounds to your festival ears.
At 14:40 on the Main Stage, you will find indie legends Scouting For Girls performing their dancefloor classics like ‘She’s So Lovely’. Or if you want to find your new favourite band, check out The Joy Hotel. A 7-piece Glaswegian group experimenting with heavy guitars and soft vocals.
When the clock strikes 18:45, the night really gets started and every stage is filled with indie/alt music goodness! On The Big Top you will see the lively Reverend and the Makers giving festival goers classic indie bops like ‘Heavyweight Champion of the World’ and across the site you will find 00’s alternative icons The Kooks giving fans sunset songs such as ‘She Moves in her Own Way’.
One of your final headliners of the Saturday line up is Paul Heaton, lead singer of English band The Housemartins. You can hear him blissfully sing indie-pop bops at 20:50 on the Main Stage. Closing the first day of the festival is The Wombats, a definitive band in the alternative music scene who are phenomenal live and not to be missed.
On your Sunday bill, you have global pop sensation CMAT to start your Sunday with pure positivity over on The Big Top stage at 14:40. Then make sure you don’t miss your chance on seeing the indie pop quartet The Lottery Winners at 15:40 (also at The Big Top).
At 16:50 on the Main Stage, you have Gang of Youths. An Australian indie-rock band exuberating indie-rock talent and passion. To carry on with the alternative genre, make sure you stick around to catch Sea Girls at 18:00 who will also take to the Main Stage with their punchy guitars and toe tapping drums.
Inspirational pop genius Self Esteem takes to the Main Stage at 19:15 to give her colourful and fantastic live show the festival experience. For more pure pop, make your way to The Big Top at 19:40 to see one of the most phenomenal live acts of the century, Confidence Man. You will not be left disappointed!
To close your 2 days of absolute music heaven, you can witness one of the greatest comebacks in years as Pulp are back! A legendary band in English music history will arrive at NBHD at 20:50 on the Main Stage where you can create memories listening to quintessential tracks like ‘Common People’. And if that isn’t the best way to end a festival then I don’t know what is!
