‘Love will Conquer’ and everything in between: Liam Fender on his debut EP 'Love Will …' and a look into everything that is yet to come.

If you don’t know the name Liam Fender; you’re about to. With his incredible vocal talent and exceptionally moving songwriting, Liam in the last year, has shown all that he’s worth as he’s graced the music industry with his presence and gorgeous songs like a force of nature.

Although so far, his debut EP set to release this Friday, is beginning to feel like the best kept secret of the month, you can see from his first two releases ‘Love Will Conquer’ and ‘Time Comes Around’  the crescendo of emotions we are yet to feel, with his beautifully written and extremely meaningful, full of heart tunes, which we’re excited that he is ready to share with the world.

We were lucky enough to have a chat with the man himself about his upcoming projects and of course, his long-awaited debut EP.

Liam, you released your debut single in late October last year, how does it feel to finally have it out there in the world to share?

It feels great to finally be putting music out again and being able to share it with a wider audience.

One of your singles is called ‘Love Will Conquer’. Could you tell us what the meaning of the song is behind that?

It’s for everyone to interpret for themselves but for me personally it’s about coming together in turbulent times.

What has it been like to see the response to your music in the industry and beyond that? Has anything changed since the release of the song?

It has been lovely to see such a great response to my music so far. Not much has changed except occasionally getting stopped in the middle aisle of Lidl.

What was it like getting the song from a concept to finally being recorded and then released into the world? Are there any behind-the-scenes stories from your creative process of the song you’d be happy to share with us?

It was an excruciatingly long process due to Covid and the madness that that brought with it. It has however been a humbling experience working with such wonderful, creative people. It’s not about the creative process but I’ve found it funny being introduced as the wrong person on a couple of occasions.

Are there any artists that have inspired you, either from a young age or now, that encouraged you to want to make music?

Growing up in a musical household I was lucky to be exposed to such a wide variety of music. I was a big fan of Cherry Ghost in my early 20’s and last year had the pleasure of doing some sessions with Simon Aldred.

Do you have a favorite lyric from the song? One you think people should listen to a little more closely when hearing it?

“You’ll commiserate and live in hate, can’t see the forest from the garden gate” Make of that what you will.

If you could have any song be the soundtrack to your life, which would you choose?

'When Will I Be Famous'' by Bros. Nah, joking. Maybe 'Keep On Keeping On’ by Curtis Mayfield.

Now your EP is about to be released, can you tell us more about the project? Any upcoming projects you’d like everyone to know about? What’s next?

It’s a collection of songs that have been sat in the vaults for a while. This EP serves as a pre-cursor to a greater body of work I am hoping to release next year. We are in the pre-production stages of my debut album. What’s next? I’m off to the pub, I’ll get back to you on that one

Liam’s EP ‘Love Will …' is out on all streaming platforms this Friday the 28th of July.
