In one of the first major collaborations of the year, Lost Frequencies and Bastille have released their bitingly catchy new track ‘Head Down’.
Fusing his traditional house sound with the alternative pop-rock band Bastille, Lost Frequencies – real name Felix De Laet – has produced yet another ballad. Despite the song title, the melodic chorus, sung by none other than Bastille’s Dan Smith, encourages listeners to keep their heads up and look forward regardless of what life throws at them.
The main tagline “Don’t hang your head down, head down” reaffirms the message to maintain high spirits in the face of difficult times.
With his ever-recognisable voice, Dan Smith provides impeccable vocals over the infectious house beat. The emotive lyrics placed over a captivating melodic rhythm is a first-hand invitation to lose yourself for the three-minute song duration.
Lost Frequencies has spent over a decade pushing the boundaries of house music. Consistently curating a blend of house-pop anthems, he is the mastermind behind some of the biggest hits of recent years, ‘Where Are You Now’ featuring Calum Scott and ‘Are You With Me’ to name a few. Coming off the back of a stellar year, playing some of the world’s biggest festivals and a recent album release, listeners can only expect more heart-pumping tracks from this renowned international artist.
Global sensations and BRIT award winners Bastille are arguably one of the most successful UK bands over the last decade. With the release of their fourth single from their debut studio album in 2013, ‘Pompeii’ became an instant hit cementing Bastille in the international music scene. They have since gone from strength to strength and become increasingly successful with other dance collaborations – most notably ‘Happier’ with Marshmello.
In the dark depths of winter, this feel-good collaboration sets the tone for the rest of the year as we look ahead to those warm, bright summer days. ‘Head Down’ is the perfect pick-me-up to kick start the new year and is projected to be one of the biggest records of 2024.
