‘Battle’: The New Impeccably Intriguing Single By Courting

Liverpool quartet Courting release their edgy and sparky new single ‘Battle’, full of constant vivacity and gorgeous rhythms.

Courting are an indie-rock group that have a discography full of imaginative and truly unique sounds, which they have continued to expand on since the release of their first EP ‘Grand National’ in 2021.

Their sound has progressed magically whilst maintaining their distinctive musical talents.

‘Battle’ is the first hearing of new music since the band released their long-awaited second album ‘New Last Name’ in January this year. Courting are well-known and well-loved for their spoken word vocals and experimental sounds they produce, and ‘Battle’ is a perfect example of this true Courting sound and talent.

‘Battle’ embodies an element of spring, with its happy and bubbly atmosphere created by its strong guitar and high-pitched crashing cymbals. As we delve into the lyrics of this seemingly ebullient track, is the narrative juxtaposing those happy-go-lucky beats? Lines like “Nice while it lasted / I am not the bigger man” provide a deeper meaning to this song, pulling the listener in and intriguing them as to what the song truly is about.

You can hear the unruly sounds of Courting throughout spring as they embark on their ‘New Last Name’  S/S24 tour.
