Good Luck Getting This Song Out Of Your Head, Babe!

Chappell Roan’s newly released single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ is pure 80s magic.

The track is her first release since her 2023 album ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess’ . Chappell Roan is often described as vibrant, fun, and unapologetically herself. ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ is exactly that.

This is the type of song that would play at the end of an 80s rom-com as the credits roll.

It's spunky, feel-good, and energising.

The track opens with uptempo drums, 80s-style synth beats, and hand claps. The chorus of the track goes “You can kiss a hundred boys in bars / Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling / You can say it's just the way you are / Make a new excuse, another stupid reason / Good luck, babe.” The song was written about Roan’s experience being in a relationship with someone who is not comfortable with their attraction to her.

The vocals on the bridge show an influence from Cyndi Lauper. There is a clear contrast between the deeply personal, heavy emotions in her lyrics and the upbeat tempo of the track. The harmonic keyboard and springy guitar riff add a nice texture to the synth beats which can be heard throughout the song. This single is endlessly playable, and the perfect track of the summer. Chappell has once again proven she deserves a place as a newcomer in the pop world.
