The staple Australian punk rockers Amyl and The Sniffers are back with a bang as they release two new tracks ‘Facts’ and ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’. The quartet from Melbourne, Australia fronted by icon Amy Taylor are one of the countries biggest pub-rock bands which have took the world by storm with their punchy yet impactful records.
These two new singles are the first glimpses of new sounds we have heard from the band since the release of their essential sophomore album ‘Comfort To Me’ in 2021 that holds powerful and meaningful tracks such as ‘Knifey’ and ‘Capital’.
‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ has the definitive Sniffers sound with low bass, catchy guitar, vigorous drums, and lyrics you can’t help but scream along to. The story of this song sees Amy telling the listener of her travels from L.A, Tokyo and London ‘‘being the queen’’, whilst having someone (who is still in Australia and failing to explore the world like her) in the back of her head saying ‘‘you should not be doing that’’. Amyl And The Sniffers have released a record that on the surface sounds like an angsty punk rock track, but when you dive deeper, you delve in to a subject many fans resonate with and this one is all about being stronger than the voice in your head.
The next track Sniffers have gifted us with is ‘Facts’, a record that teleports you in to a sweaty mosh pit as soon as you press play. The vexed two-and-a-half-minute track is a clatter of utter beauty and punk perfection which is going to sound absolutely wild live!
With the common lyrics ‘‘N.O Future’’ being shouted throughout the record, you can almost hear the audience screaming back to them ahead of their live shows already. Yet again, the band have created an exquisite piece of music with a powerful message buried beneath its heavy commotion of Aussie rock noise.
With the return of Amyl’s legendary talent to create such manic yet beautiful noise, fans are also blessed with the news of them returning to the UK for a monumental headline tour this November. The excitement these new tracks have received alongside the already sensational discography they hold, makes for this tour to be impossible to miss.
