Edinburgh-based Christopher Finn leads Hospital Corner, alongside John Alexander on Drums, Robbie Threlfall on guitar and keys, and long time collaborator Gordy Burn on bass.
Together, they craft anthemic rock infused with melancholy, yet threaded with a pulse of hope and optimism. The project aims to break boundaries, constantly exploring different genres while delving into storytelling and perspective. Hospital Corner is gearing up to release their new EP, ‘Seasonal Changes’.
Following the story of a deteriorating relationship that faces violent outbursts, ‘Bad People’ cleverly explores this lyrically through the point of view of an anonymous female figure spilling all her vulnerabilities, as suggested with the lyrics: “She doesn’t know why the world is taking so long / To discover a truth she knew all along…”.
‘Bad People’ bursts to life with a raw, acoustic guitar that lends the track a lo-fi feel. The isolated vocals, paired with this guitar, operate parallel yet harmonise seamlessly. This duality reflects the dissociation the individual experiences, capturing a sombre motion with precision. A dominant drum soon crashes and rolls as the jagged guitars develop into a melodic tune thus transitioning into a feeling of hope and freedom.
