Peach Pit Release The Rousing ‘Magpie’

Energetic, fuzzy and catchy, Peach Pit’s latest cut ‘Magpie’ is the title track of their forthcoming album of the same name, which drops on October 25th. Magpie will be their fourth full length LP, and will follow on from their 2022 release, ‘From 2 to 3’.

The latest single from the Vancouver-based quartet has a run time of just over four minutes, and features fuzzy, reverb drenched lead guitar, chunky bass lines, punchy drums and impressive vocals, both lead and backing.

From the first verse we get a sense of the narrative for this single:“Sippin’ up a tin can / Bit of a wasted while / Never put in too much effort, no / When his days let go”. The lyrics depict a magpie character who lives a gutter-like existence, drinking and living on the edge, and generally being ok with that. The chorus is punchy and memorable, however the instrumental bridge is the most impressive part of this cut. Kicking in at around 2:45mins, a roaring guitar solo is unleashed, paired with a spacey organ and the punchy drums- this is where the Peach Pit sound is fully unleashed.

Magpie’ is a strong single which seems to set the tone for the upcoming album with its pacey and fuzzy vibe. If this track is anything to go by, the album should be one to remember.
