The Trusted Release The Peculiarly Awesome ‘Miracle Face’

The Trusted are a British indie rock band from Southend-on-sea, skillfully blending post-punk elements, characterised by raw energy, with clean, atmospheric soundscapes reminiscent of The 1975 and the intense, energetic style of The Clash.

They seamlessly execute this whilst exploring their unique sound, which is evident in their latest single, ‘Miracle Face’. The track delves into the theme of idolising someone, overlooking their flaws, and ultimately facing disappointment, as expressed in the lyrics: “You’re a miracle face, teach me how to feel don’t let me go”.

‘Miracle Face’ begins with a brief, hazy, isolated drumbeat that seamlessly transitions into a rich instrumental featuring an uplifting rhythm and calming tempo. These arrangements feel both polished but also have a feel of being rough around the edges with the guitars taking centre stage through the use of repetition to create an energetic persona that perfectly embodies the post-punk energy. However, the light, twinkling melodies add a contrasting heavy pop element that results in a confused but addictive sound.

This experimentation with sound and style is further enhanced by the use of auto-tune, the high-pitched vocals bring an electronic pop wave that at first seemingly random, but as ‘Miracle Face’ progresses it becomes hard to imagine it without.

‘Miracle Face’ showcases The Trusted as the ones to watch out for. Cleverly blurring the lines between genre and attitude to create a peculiar yet astonishing track leaving us eager to hear more.
