Punk's Not Dead: Daffodildos Release ‘Never Enough’

On a mission led by three individuals  to challenge cis-heteronormative, patriarchal views and make others rethink everything you believe about life in the 21st century, Daffodildos presents their latest single, ‘Never Enough’. This track merges intense chord progression with passionate vocals, crafting a battle cry that ushers in a revitalised wave of punk.

Formed by front person Emily Flea, previously of The Fleas, in 2021, and Captain Jax of No See Ums, the duo quickly began writing songs addressing the issues most important to their community and immediately made an impact. Having known each other for years and sharing a common ethos, they reached out to drummer Anni Von Flange, formerly of Boot Sale/Vanilla Giver, completing the Daffodildos line-up.

This trio of neurodiverse queer punks tackles a range of social issues in their music, including animal rights, queer liberation, and oppression within the punk scene. Daffodils has become a must-see act in the UK punk scene.

‘Never Enough’ explores themes of addiction and the relentless cycle of craving more. Emily Flea's vocal style conveys both vulnerability and frustration, which is emphasised in the use of repetition in the track’s chorus: “It’s never enough / It’s never enough / It’s never enough.”

From start to finish ‘Never Enough’ maintains an energetic surge. The powerful instrumentals, marked by distorted riffs and a relentless drumbeat, escalate into a faster temp, seamlessly mirroring the chord progression and the intensity of sharp-edge melodies that embody the essence of punk and its rebellious spirit whilst delivering a meaningful and impuissant state.

Daffodildos demonstrate to audiences that embracing vulnerability is punk as fuck, forging an intense new wave of what punk can and should be. With ‘Never Enough’, they reach new heights, making them a band to keep an eye on.
