Sam Fender has just released his gripping new single ‘Wild Long Lie’, from his upcoming album ‘People Watching’ scheduled to be released on February 21st via Polydor Records. The single is the second single to come from the album and is produced with Joe Atkinson who also worked on ‘People Watching’ and ‘Mantra’ with Fender. The single has resulted in many fans already calling it a classic, hoping it will stay in future setlists in shows years to come.
Fans have been treated with the latest single on the People Watching Tour setlist. ‘Wild Long Lie’ was met with an outpouring of excitement and anticipation from fans, since its debut in Dublin on the first night of Fender’s arena tour. "Wild Long Lie" explores the conflict between a deep affection for one's hometown and the longing to break free from it.
The track showcases a different side to Fender since the release of his previous album ‘Seventeen Going Under’, with prominent instrumentals and vocals shining throughout. It wouldn’t be a Sam Fender song without a guitar solo that cuts straight to the heart, blending power with vulnerability.
The raw vocals beautifully encapsulate the emotion in the lyrics: “And I've gone quiet 'cause my heart is still choking up from a love I tore apart / Oh, I've got so much pain here, yet so much love”.
As the anticipation for the release of his new album continues to build, it is safe to say that his latest song has earned widespread acclaim from his growing fan base especially as he heads out on tour—from his current arena dates to a stadium tour next summer.
