Are You Going To ‘Take It Or Leave It’? - Overpass Release New Single Ahead Of Upcoming EP

With multiple impressive singles under their belt, Birmingham’s Overpass have released yet another tune ‘Take It Or Leave It’, which has given us a taste of what’s to come from their upcoming EP ‘Dependent’, set to release 28th February.

The band, consisting of frontman Max Newbold, bassist India Armstrong, guitarist Elliot Rawlings and drummer Jake Bishop, once again have made it clear that their place in the music industry is serious and they’re here to stay.

The midlands four-piece are no strangers to creating a banger and this time it’s no different. The track, which is the third to be released from the EP, features sensational guitar riffs and a bold chorus that can easily be remembered. ‘Take It Or Leave It’ sits perfectly well amongst the band’s discography and simply reinstates the indie rock genre that they have made a name for themselves with. It touches on the topic of making the mistakes in a relationship and resulting in not seeing the other person, demonstrated with the lyrics “A million ways of letting you down / A million days that I’ve missed you now” and ultimately leading to whether to 'Take it or leave it’.

The track differs from other songs with a similar topic and stands away from most, with a lot of lyricism in relationship based music talking about the other person being the problem. It’s refreshing to see how an artist has written lyrics admitting to themselves being an issue, rather than the other way round. The melody, the riffs, the drumming - all of it seamlessly works alongside the effective lyricism and comes together to form a perfect and punchy indie rock number.

Overpass have really emerged with their guitar driven music and it’s easy to say that they know what they’re doing. Each single released really well demonstrates what they want to be known for, as well as the sound that they are finding for themselves, and 'Take It Or Leave It' definitely contributes to this. It’s a strong, catchy single release from the band, which leaves listeners waiting to hear what’s coming next from the Birmingham four-piece.
