'Arm's Length': Sam Fender's "Simple Pop Song"

Released on the 24th January 2025 ‘Arm’s Length’ is the third single from Sam Fender’s upcoming album ‘People Watching’

Following the singles ‘People Watching' and ‘Wild Long Lie’, it showcases the diverse range of music his fans can expect from the album, which is due on 21st February.

‘Arm’s Length’ is classic Sam Fender: heartfelt, soulful and comforting. The lyrics ‘Do you have to know me, know me inside out?’ are repeated consistently throughout the song, perhaps to emphasize how scary it can be to allow yourself to be emotionally vulnerable in order to connect with others. Therefore this pop-rock song seems to be more of a slow burner that creates a meaningful message for his evolving fanbase to listen and relate to.

In a recent Instagram post Sam describes the song as “being avoidant and flighty. But also, just a simple pop song, which I love”. There’s a distinctive guitar riff and a consistent tempo which are perfectly paired with Sam’s unique, familiar voice.

This summer Sam will be starting his ‘People Watching Stadium Tour’, the biggest of his career so far, performing in iconic venues including St James’ Park in his home city of Newcastle, and London Stadium, which will be his biggest crowd to date. £1 from every ticket sold for the UK dates to be donated to the Music Venue Trust in support of grassroots venues.
