Bring Me The Horizon Reimagine 'Wonderwall' and 'YOUtopia' in New Spotify Singles

Not many bands from the emo-rock era of the late noughties have had such longevity, not to mention, commercial success and sonic evolution, as Bring Me The Horizon. 

From their debut album ‘Count Your Blessings’ to their latest album, ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’, the Sheffield foursome have once again returned to treat fans with two exclusive Spotify Singles.

First comes their perhaps unexpected cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’. Before pressing play, you wouldn’t be alone in questioning how the cover might work, given the stark contrast in each band’s style and aesthetics. Yet, mere seconds into the track, you’re struck by the genius behind the choice to tackle such a classic. Frontman Oli Sykes’ gritty screams, paired with the gradually building punk-pop riffs and fast-paced drums from Matt Nicholls, offer a perfect alternative to a song that often divides rock fans on the heavier side of the spectrum.

The second single in the pairing is the EarthcOre remix of ‘YOUtopia’, the second hit from their most recent and arguably most diverse sounding album to date. The remix infuses the track with a faster pace, juxtaposing the melancholy within its lyrics: “Soul like a cemetery, hard to ignore / We're sick to the core / A world's been buried / Where love is the law…". Infused with the dark lyricism and moody ambiance fans have come to expect, the track strikes a masterful balance between its signature depth and a rhythm that's at once catchy and subtly danceable, marking yet another experimental success for the band.

Paired together, these tracks reaffirm just how far Bring Me The Horizon have come in establishing themselves as well-deserving members of the British rock hall of fame. From the upbeat romantic hues of their reimagination of ‘Wonderwall’ to the woeful minimalism of their ‘YOUtopia’ remix, this release solidifies their range and appeal, making it a must-listen for both old and new fans.
