Craig David Starts 2025 With Summery Single ‘SOS’

25 years after his debut album ‘Born To Do It’Craig David released his newest single ‘SOS’. The song is a catchy dance-pop track full of David’s classic R&B vocals, but with a fresh and modern sound for 2025.

The entire track feels light and summery and uses steel pan drums to create a bright and exciting atmosphere. The piece builds in anticipation of the chorus, using strong keyboard chords and an increasing crescendo. A range of claps, clicks and background vocals give the song a deeper dimension.

Craig David’s distinct voice and vocal runs create a strong foundation, and the simple-sounding choruses make the single easy to sing and dance to. The repeated “Sending out an SOS for you” and lyrics like “Feel as if my ship is sinking / Finding it way too hard to stay afloat” tell a story of someone learning to be vulnerable and open. David shared this saying “SOS is about the realisation that playing it safe doesn’t work.”

The video shows the conventions of lip-syncing, driving cars and going on dates. But, it also uses scenes of the love interest dancing in a cinematic and artistic shot, creating a visually interesting storyline while adhering to typical dance video expectations.

David's upcoming Commitment Tour will see the artist at venues up and down the UK, sharing new songs like ‘SOS’ and ‘In Your Hands’, and other timeless R&B pop classics.
