'Sports Car’: A Pulsing Pop Tune From Tate McRae

‘Sports Car’ is 21-year-old popstar Tate McRae’s energetic third single for her upcoming album ‘So Close to What’.  

Released on Friday 24^th January, it takes a new progressive and sultry tone for Tate, including an enticing pre-chorus and her whispering the chorus seductively, it leaves listeners in love with both Tate and this song, creating an instant banger, with its early 2000s dance-pop vibe.

It’s written by Ryan Tedder, Grant, Julia Micheals, and Tate McRae, lyrics like “No, you ain't got no Mrs. / Oh, but you got a sports car” shows the desire created by Tate, that features throughout this catchy tune. Sports cars and racing seem to be a theme in her upcoming album having been featured in the music video for her previous single ‘2 Hands’. It gives a preview for what’s in store for ‘So Close to What’ which is coming out on 21^st February 2025.

The music video, that accompanies ‘Sports Car’ features her in 10 extravagant outfits and various wigs, showing off her iconic, expressive and powerful dance moves that have followed her throughout her career, and creates excitement to see what Tate has in store for the live shows on her highly anticipated arena tour ‘Tate McRae: Miss Possessive Tour’  which hits the UK in May at venues including London’s O2 Arena and the CO-OP Live Arena in Manchester.
