Coming off the back of her highly acclaimed debut album released in 2023, Blondshell’s latest single ‘T&A’ delves into the emotional weight of always choosing the wrong person. ‘T&A’ is an immersive exploration into damaging dating patterns, accompanied by gritty vocals and distorted guitar.
Blondshell’s writing style is sharp and relatable. Sabrina Teitelbaum leaves no stone unturned in the image depicted of her love life, relishing in the wounded beauty of her truth. There is a tongue-in-cheek aspect to this single too. With ‘T&A’, and the vast majority of Blondshell’s music, the feeling given is like being on a phone call with a close friend.
It comes as no surprise that Blondshell’s fans are so committed. Her signature sound is reminiscent of 90's alternative rock yet the lyricism is packed with personal references to her own lived experiences. Her inspiration is taken from songwriters best associated with feminine rage - Liz Phair (who Blondshell previously toured with), Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morrissette. The moody and frustrated tone of ‘T&A’ is oppositely charming, and the drone-style guitar hammers home the track’s attitude.
‘T&A’ is the alluring second single in promotion of Blondshell’s upcoming album ‘If You Asked For A Picture’, sharing a glimpse into the unrestrained energy of her second album. Blondshell is explicit with her storytelling, and her openness is a tried-and-true fan pleaser. ‘T&A’ is ultimately a reminder of Blondshell’s strength in being gorgeously rough around the edges.
