Taking inspiration from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy Pop, The Stooges, PJ Harvey, and The Velvet Underground, the artist injects her unique take on gritty rock into the music scene with her introspective storytelling skills and fierce, raw energy.
Her latest cut, ‘A-Bomb’, is heavily grounded in retro-punk and acts as her most ambitious release to date. Her evolution as a musician is put clearly on display through her maturity in tackling impressive chord progressions. Exploring a narrative of freedom paralleled with wanting someone “All to myself”, A.N.J.A. proclaims “Let me out of the misery / Let yourself be free / And we’ll fly”.
Released independently in collaboration with producer Jack McGarry, ‘A-Bomb’ provides sheer, unfiltered rock energy and carries confidence and swagger through drilling instrumentation and hypnotic vocals reminiscent of the RIOT GRRL era famed by the likes of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre.
Self-described as a “One woman post-punk horror surf rock experiment”, A.N.J.A. truly lives up to her own as she stamps her own unique twist on the classic punk-pop sound.
A.N.J.A. is on an unstoppable upwards trajectory and shows no intentions of slowing down any time soon. Keep your eyes firmly peeled.
