The Anthem For The Socially Awkward Unique – ‘Life Of The Party’ By Art Pop Talent Dilettante

The singer-songwriter and multi-talent behind Dilettante, Francesca Pidgeon, has created a very relatable song for everyone feeling insecure or introverted at social events.

Staying true to herself, she keeps on expanding the genre of art pop, with the playful use of brass instruments and synths. Throwing in carefully constructed pieces of electric guitar that, along with the drums, let the tension build more and more. ‘Life Of The Party’ is a very relatable, genre expanding piece of art.

The duality of feeling out of your comfort zone and simultaneously wanting to connect with other people can be seen in the lyrics “I don’t like to smoke but oh I like who stands outside”. It’s a feeling that most people have experienced to some extent, a vulnerability that Dilettante so honestly puts into this work of music. This title track has irony sprinkled in the lyrics. With the main character continuing to ask “Aren’t I just the life of the party?” throughout the song and going on to say belittling things about herself, such as“Aren’t I just the song in the background?”, the song keeps on going into the vulnerable side of being self-conscious at social gatherings. Precisely this raw and vulnerable side makes the track easy to connect with.

Starting the song with piano notes, a soothing voice and some drum tunes, the song stays true to Dilettante’s distinctive vibe. The singer’s ability to find a balance between the unique use of instruments and her soft voice perfectly add to this out-of-the-box track.

Her self-produced album ‘Life Of The Party’ comes out on January 24th, which gives the audience enough time to have a listen before going to one of her UK shows in March. Tickets can be found on Dilettante’s Linktree with gigs listed for Southampton, Leeds, London and many more.
