Seven Questions With Kyle Falconer

Scottish singer-songwriter Kyle Falconer made his fame and stamped his name on the indie rock music scene with his early 00's band The View. More recently, Falconer has made the venture into solo territories marked by the release of his debut album 'No Thank You' back in 2018.

With his third record coming out this month, we chat with Kyle Falconer about his upcoming record, touring with Mark Ronson, and being a proud Dundonian as part of the Seven Questions with Music Is To Blame Series.

Introduce yourself and where are you’re from.

Hi my name's Kyle Falconer, I’m born and bred Dundonian but I now reside in sunny Spain.

What do our readers need to know about you?

In lead singer and songwriter in the band The View, I’ve toured and played in a band with Mark Ronson, The Business International, I also have two solo albums to date, one which the songs have been made into a musical with my wife called ‘No Love Songs’ which is touring across Australia and Off Broadway in New York.

What have you got coming up that you’re most excited for?

My third solo album is out 7th Feb and its a collation of songs with girls names from throughout my albums with The View and on my own.

What’s the best run in you’ve had with a fan?

I met a fan in Spain after playing Mallorca Rocks and he took us out on his boat for a BBQ / party, he ran out of fuel and in the middle of the night we had to swim back to the bay with plastic bags full of air to keep us afloat, we’re friends now to this day.

What’s been your biggest ‘I’ve made it moment’ to date?

Headlining Glastonbury, T in the Park and Reading and Leeds in 2007.

What are your three "desert island" albums?

Michael Jackson - 'Bad'

Shania Twain - 'Come on Over'

Oasis - 'What’s the Story?'

Sum up your sound in three words.

Sweet melodic chaos
