If you’ve ever doubted yoursel
Released as the first single from upcoming album ‘Pretty On The Internet’
2024 was a busy and successful year for the Warrington quartet with their debut album reaching Number 3 on the UK Official Album Chart. ‘I Wonder If The World Knows’ is a record full of anthemic sounds and rebel-rousing riffs. Seeking to follow in their debut’s footsteps, The K’s implement their signature style of objective and observational lyrics. This approach to lyricism opens up a vulnerable side to the band, exactly what ‘Breakdown In My Bedroom’ discusses.
There’s a lot to unpack in the three-and-a-half-minute
‘Breakdown In My Bedroom’ approaches the often volatile and vulnerable environment that comes with an open occupation, such as being a musician. In the first verse, Boyle sings, “I’ve put my face out there / and it’s a constant grind to save it”. In a later verse, he vocalises the lyrics, “you chose a strange job for a person / who can’t be out in public”. Within these lines, among a host of other intricately articulated notions, The K’s perfectly pen just how many people in similar positions may feel. With a contrasting thrill of performing and producing music, comes the turmoil of emotional backlash from perhaps both yourself and others.
By making themselves vulnerable in the way they have, the group give grounds for fans to accept how they feel and provide a foundation to fall back on for those in similar industries or roles. Despite it’s deeper discussions, ‘Breakdown In My Bedroom’ has a captivating and upbeat feel that will sound incredible live. Check out the dates below to catch The K’s some time soon.
