Celebrating Chaos And Grunge With The Unique Sound Of Clutter

After the release of their debut single ‘Holy Brother’ last year, Clutter immediately set the tone for their work to follow. Raw, disorientating and unique in their own way, the band went on to release ‘Jesus’ and ‘Kraut’ before they hit with their current single ‘Brideshead’.

After several years of playing their own shows, the band signed with PNKSLM Recordings in 2024 before supporting the Spanish indie rock band Hinds on their UK tour in 2025. Reminiscent of early 90s shoegaze with a mix of heavy guitar sounds and raw vocals, ‘Brideshead’ possess an overall loud and chaotic-grunge vibe. With the mix of brisk drums from Ville Scott that perfectly underlines the angst of the track and the crashing and heavy guitar sounds from Ove Jerndal, the song immediately conveys the overwhelming feeling of helplessness and lost love. The new single comes as part of their debut EP, ‘Love You’, which will be released on April 11th with the vinyl already available for pre-order.

The quartet from Stockholm take their inspiration from sounds like Sonic Youth and manage to create distorting unconventional sounds. ‘Brideshead’ is unique in its own way, containing a dialogue between two protagonists, sung by Emma French and Hilda Ander. Both vocalists shared that the idea came from their favorite book Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.

As seen in the lyrics “Throwing up your champagne dinners / Sweet strawberry mess” sang by one while the other replies with “Forgive me for throwing up”, the song is a dialogue between two protagonists reflecting on the same events from different perspectives. The different parts are underlined with a change in tempo of drums and guitar, as well as the contorted voice of the singer. It’s a song about failed love and hopeless relationships painted in an angsty sound of chaos and grudges.

Clutter is due to play live at London’s The Lexington on April 16th, so be sure to grab a ticket to hear their unfiltered sound and experience their energy in the flesh
