Country-pop staple Maren Morris is kickstarting her fourth album cycle with a single crammed with proud belts, reassurance and nothing but raw emotion.
Just like ‘80’s Mercedes’ the latest single from Maren Morris opens with a striking piano melody, although the subject matter couldn’t be any different. While her 2016 car-themed anthem discusses how dependable her motor is, ‘Carry Me Through’ sees her taking the wheel, betting on herself and no-one else.
Morris’ newest single is dedicated to all things independence, trusting your instincts and putting yourself first. A chorus with lines like “Yeah I know tomorrow’s gon’ come / Preaching to a choir of one” makes this song a perfect addition for your songs you can scream in the car playlist.
This track was always going to be a ballad from the get-go, especially when it’s left in the trusty hands of pop producer Greg Kurstin, the man behind Sia’s belt-heavy ‘Chandelier’ and Adele’s powerhouse performances on both ‘Hello’ and ‘Easy On Me’.
Morris ends this single repeating “I’ll get there” and I think it’s safe to say we all need a sip of whatever’s in that glass she’s holding to become as confident as this country star.
‘Carry Me Through’ marks the first taste of her fourth album ‘Dreamiscle’ and if this lead single is anything to go off, we’ll definitely be back for seconds.
