Following the release of stellar debut album, ‘Kansas Anymore’, Tucker Pillsbury, A.K.A Role Model has swiftly become the Harry Styles of 2025’s pop world - charming, experimental, and churning out non-stop dance-worthy bangers that instantly go TikTok viral days, if not weeks, before release.
We have certainly seen that with chart-topper ‘Sally, When The Wine Runs Out’ from the deluxe version of his debut, ‘Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye)’, which has dedicated fans across America eager to be picked to dance along to this infectious track on stage with Tucker on his current US leg of the No Place Like Tour.
It is no surprise that within hours of its release, Role Model’s Like A Version cover of ‘Nothing New’, a sad girl fan-favourite of Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ vault track featuring indie-folk titan Phoebe Bridgers, has instantly conjured up thousands of videos online of fans raving about his spin on the song. Tucker undoubtedly knows his audience, as there was a similar reaction to his viral cover of ‘Somebody Else’ by The 1975 back in September last year.
This cover perfectly picks up on the homely yet melancholic atmosphere of the original, yet beholds a country twang reminiscent of some of the tracks on ‘Kansas Anymore’, such as ‘Look At That Woman’ and ‘Frances’. The addition of drums and the slight country sound elevates the track significantly, as he makes it completely his own.
