Tom Grennan has unveiled the latest track from his upcoming third album, ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be’ which is scheduled for an August 2025 release.
‘Boys Don’t Cry’ confronts the far too often taboo topic of male vulnerability with a combination of 80s style production paired with Grennan’s raw and powerful vocals.
Speaking of the inspiration of the song, Grennan explains via his Instagram “I went back home to Bedford to see my friends and I think for the first time ever we sat down and had a serious discussion about what it’s like to show emotion, what it’s like to be from a place that views showing emotion as being weak…And why, when you let your guard down do people think it makes you less of a man?”.
The single serves as a powerful and very personal declaration, with the accompanying official visualiser featuring eye opening statistics from the mental health charity MIND’S reports of male mental health, and a vital step towards encouraging men to express their vulnerability and their emotions. How crying is not something to be ashamed of. How men should be encouraged to have those difficult conversations and how it doesn’t make them less than what they perceive a ‘real man’ to be.
The track is the third released single of Grennan’s upcoming album, following ‘Higher’ and ‘Shadowboxing’, whose title suggests fans should expect a story that further explores the topic of male vulnerability. With two successful albums and a string of successful singles under his belt, Grennan is destined for another victory. With his upcoming tour, the GRENNAN ’25 Tour, kicking off near the same time the album’s release, fans will be provided with the opportunity to be treated with new music performed live.
Tickets for Grennan’s upcoming tour are available via his website and be sure to catch his headlining set at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend on 23rd May at Liverpool’s Sefton Park. Tickets for the weekend festival are available on Ticketmaster. More ticket information is provided on BBC’s official webpage
